SQL*XL: Excel Indexing Service OLEDB Connection

The Indexing Service Indexes contents and properties of files on local and remote computers. It provides rapid access to files through flexible querying language.

To connect to the Indexing Service using the OLE DB Provider (driver) please follow the procedure below:

(Make sure the Indexing Service is running)

Open the Control Panel (Start|Settings|Control Panel)

Start the Services applet (it may be in the Administrative Tools section)

Double click the Indexing Service item.

Press the Start button to start the service
Start Excel
Open the Connection dialog: SQL*XL | Connect...
Start the Data Link Properties wizard
 

 
Choose the Provider Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Indexing Service.
 

 

 
Leave the data source set to Web
Always use the Test Connection button before you continue
 

After connecting to the database once you can reconnect by selecting the connection from the Connection History list and typing the Password.
