When Excel is selected as target for the fetched results, SQL*XL
will put the data in an Excel worksheet. You can let SQL*XL format the data according the the formatting preferences.
To just get the data without any formatting, unckeck this option. Getting data without formatting will be faster
then getting data with formatting.
One reason for not letting SQL*XL do any formatting is the situation where
you let SQL*XL dump the values into a formatted Excel template. Unchecking the
format output checkbox will cause SQL*XL not to apply any formatting to the data
and therefore the original sheet formatting will be retained. Use this
technique to let SQL*XL dump values in a preformatted document.
