We need to retrieve data from Oracle database into Excel the fastest way. SQL*XL is definitely the economic and reliable solution.

Issues to tackle

Converting the data in the tables into CSV file and importing that into Excel is a longer process. Also this implies more complications as far as security is concerned while creating the csv file.

Approach taken

Used SQL*XL to remove the csv file creation and import step.

Results

Results were excellent. The data that gets retrieved is in a good format, which enables further filtering of the data based on requirements.
