Requirements to meet

We are creating Excel formatted reports from Oracle Applications 11i.

Issues to tackle

No reports exist in this application to easily download data to Excel.

Approach taken

I already had formatted SQL queries to produce printed reports and needed a “user-friendly” way for the client to run the queries and have the results appear in a spreadsheet.

Results

The customer is happy with the output from the queries. They can sort them anyway that they want and create other reports from them.
