• The provision of out of hours 3^rd line operational systems support for the AMOSS system and related systems at Manchester and Liverpool airport. User base: 250 clients, 2 database servers, 1 application server.
• Finding faults in system interfaces: system messages (MS message queue, flat files, database links), communication protocols (TCP/IP, serial comms, ODBC)
• DBA support for the Oracle databases.

• Involved in small teams (2-4 colleages)  to develop new - maintain existing and reengineer old database systems at Swinton Insurance.
• The main responsibilities were the production of program code, test plans and technical documentation. I fulfilled the role of the more senior developer, providing advice and coaching for other programmers. I also provided feedback to functional designers and business analysts.
• I have been involved a number of key systems and projects at Swinton:
  Acquisitions MI: Front-end in MS Access linking to an Oracle database.
  Customer Development System (CDS). Reengineered this old and largely undocumented Oracle7 / UNIX system. Produced UML documentation.
  Customer Contact Database (CCD). Developed several aspects of this newly developed SQL Server system. T-SQL stored procedures, performance tuning. Data migration.
  Accidental Death Benefits system (ADB). Moved system from VB-Access to VB-SQL Server under CITRIX.
  Retentions MI. Extracting Oracle7 data into a SQL Server database.
  LCE: Live Customer Extract. Development of SQL and shell scripts. Performance tuning.
  Safeguard: Retail system to sell and track motorhome policies. VB6 to SQL Server. Designed and developed the VB reporting system and a document product system based on MS Word. Produced UML documentation

• Design and development of a data extraction utility to extract data from a very large Oracle database into SQL Server using SQL Server stored procedures. Design and development of an Access database front-end.
• Reverse engineering of shell scripts and PL/SQL. Re-engineering, bugfixing, performance tuning of this Oracle on SCO UNIX system. Reinstalled system on a new SCO UNIX server.
