Huckel's rule

Huckel's rule is one of the considitions set by Erich Huckel for aromaticy. In short a aromatic molecule should be cyclic, planar, fully conjugated and posess 4n+2 pi electrons with n is 0 or positive integer. The latter rule is known as Huckel's rule.

The reason why an aromatic molecule should posess 4n+2 pi electrons is that all bonding energy levels are filled.
