ZFS: Zero field splitting
Zero-field  splitting  (zfs)  is  the  removal  spin  microstate  degeneracy  for  systems  with  S  >  1/2  in  the
absence of an applied field.  That is, the degeneracy is removed as a consequence of molecular electronic
structure and/or spin density distribution.
