Windows 7 slow handling files

Windows 7 is very slow handling files. Copying files from and onto the same hard disk is slow as well as copying files across the network. It is difficult to tell how fast windows XP performed on the same machine as it was overwritten by windows 7 but it was at least 1x faster.

Copying a 9.8GB file in the same directory took 12:08 minutes using the ksh (using the Unix subsystem for Windows). It actually makes no difference copying the file from a DOS box, from windows explorer or from a unix shell.
