Create a new dbase (dbf) table
It is very easy to create a new dbase table using SQL*XL. You do not need any other dbase software for this!
Just use the SQL*XL connection wizard and connect to a directory as a dbase database. This can be any directory. If you want to keep your disk clean, create a new directory and connect to that. I am using c:\dbf_test.
To create a table just run a create table statement from the SQL dialog in Excel. For example:
create table d (id number, data_d varchar(20))
You can also use SQL*XL's multiple rows insert feature to create the table and insert data.
This is a very easy and elegant way to quickly dump spreadsheet data into a table to be able to access it through SQL.
