Better support for SQL Server 2005/2008

Better support for SQL Server 2005 and 2008 was added to SQL*XL.

  • Schema prefix:
    When generating SQL in SQL*XL's SQL editor no schema name prefix was added for tables in other schema's than the current user's schema. For example if the CHECK_CONSTRAINTS view in the INFORMATION_SCHEMA was queried a select * from CHEKC_CONSTRAINTS was created. Executing this SQL failed because the prefix INFORMATION_SCHEMA was missing. Currently a sample rows statement is created as:

    SELECT top 100 * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.CHECK_CONSTRAINTS;

  • CLOB (e.g. varchar(max)) columns are handled as long text fields.
    The processing will be done just as for Oracle long columns. These fields can contain large amounts of text. Using the long variable you can set how much information is actually retrieved. For more details please see the Oracle long columns article below.
    Tested using SQLOLEDB and MSDASQL.

    select data from Oracle long columns
