hello i download the trial for SQL*XL , I used Excel front end I want to use oracle xe database can i connect but i don't know how to pull data from oracle .
do you have video tutorial do i need to kow sql script?????

The process is not very difficult. Unfortunately we do not have videos.

Please open the sql dialog. Then open the sql editor. On the left you can investigate your database. Simply expand the notes and inspect the tables list. Select the table of your interest. Open the node to show the columns. Then right click on the table and select to query a sample of the rows. SQL*XL will create the sql. Just execute that.

If you know the table name you can simply run:

select * from mytable where rownum <= 100

This will get a sample of 100 rows. To get all rows (be careful, a table can be large!) you run:

select * from mytable

In order to retrieve a tables list you can access you can also run:

select * from user_tables

Thanks I found the table . What I want to do is open excel , like invoice take data from oracle ( customer, products) retunr the data to oracle.

1.-how can i pull data from the oracle to excel????

Sorry for the question I don't undestand to much about oracle.

You need to run an SQL select statement that you need to build to retrieve your invoice.

In general the syntax is:
Select * from table

However you need to be specific as to which rows to select.

I suggest you read my material about sql. Go to www.oraxcel.com/forums and search for sql primer.

Ok Now I know how to import Customer table to my excel , but how import one customer to fill in my Invoice excel table?????

First focus on selecting the customer. Add a where clause to your select statement to select the single customer record. Have a look what field is unique for the row.

Examples:

Select * from mytable where id=1

Select * from mytable where invoice_id=12345

Selecr * from mytable where name = 'JONES'

Once you have one row only select the fields you need. Then choose how to retrieve the results. Either dump the data into a template or use the sqlqueryvalue formula. Personally I like the function best.
