XML validation

XML validation

XML can be validated using a DTD or a XSD.

DTD: Document Type Definition. Constraints on the usage, sequence and nesting of tags.

XSD: XML Schema. Set of rules to which a XML should adhere. Schema documents are organised using namespaces.

A schema can, in contrast to a DTD, validate the contents of an element against a data type.
