Inertial mass, reduced mass

The effective inertial mass or the reduced mass, is the mass of an object measured by its resistance to acceleration.

1/u = sum (1/m1 + 1/m2 + 1/m3 + ...)

u = reduced mass
m1 = mass 1
m2 = mass 2
m3 = mass 3
