Database compare
The first thing to do when doing a database compare is to see whether there is a difference in tables in both databases. Usually a database has a means of dumping the table list. In Oracle you can use select * from all_tables. Other databases may have other ways to do this. You can always use the tables list in SQL*XL SQL editor. Selecting all tables and dragging it to the editor area will copy the names into the editor.
To compare whether two tables contain the same information you can use the minus SQL operation. To see which rows in table1 do not exist in table2 you can run:
select * from table1
select * frmo table2
