Using MOLDEN in windows on a PC

After a lot of trial and error I managed to get MOLDEN to work on a PC in windows XP.

MOLDEN is a program that can display the molecular structure and molecular density from ab initio quantum chemistry packages. On the homepage at http://www.cmbi.ru.nl/molden/molden.html they state: "MOLDEN a pre- and post processing program of molecular and electronic structure."

MOLDEN runs in X windows so a X windows emulator is needed to run MOLDEN. This proved very hard as I was not willing to pay for a X windows system. I contacted the developer of MOLDEN, G Schaftenaar. He was kindly pointing me to the following free X windows emulator.

XMing: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xming

The combination seems to work fine!
