No update using the sqlexecute function

Question:
On first use I am finding the sqlexecute() function to be impressive. But I'm probably missing something in my settings because the function is returning "successful" when it successfully updates the "Access" table and also it is returning "successful" when it does not update the table.

I am executing this function:
=sqlexecutevolatile( "update jobs set manD = cdate("&A3&") where unitN = '"&C3&"'" )

The value in A3 is a date with value 09/03/2007 and in C3 there is a text value of unit1.

Answer:
Please reaslise that the successful result indicates that the update was successfully done however it could not have updated anything. Suppose there is no unit1 unit in your table the update will still have executed ok but it will have hit 0 rows.
