setting Oracle optimizer mode for a session

 alter session set optimizer_mode=RULE

Trying to fix some problems with aggregate functions (max, min) on Oracle 10g R2 I noticed that the optimizer goal was set to ALL_ROWS in our database. To test the statements with RULE based optimisation I found out that the above alter session cn change the optimizer mode for the session.
