Startup delay due to expired certificate

An SQL*XL user reported he suddenly started to get startup delays when using SQL*XL. Excel prompted again about macro security.

To bypass these problems SQL*XL is digitally signed with a Thawte digital certificate. The certificate has a finite validity and it can be that the software you purchased has a signature that is expired now.

If that is the case you can do a few things to avoid the startup delays. You can lower the macro security but that is not recommended. Not for nothing Microsoft implemented all this security in Excel. The recommended way would be to get the SQL*XL software serviced with an upgrade. Apart from getting a version of SQL*XL with a valid digital certificate you also benefit from new features and bug fixes.
