Create a new paradox database and table

Create a new paradox database and table

In this article it is demonstrated how you can create a new paradox database and a table. You do not need any specific new drivers or software besides the SQL*XL software.

A paradox database is a normal directory. In other words, you can logon to any directory  you like. In my example I will "logon" to the c:\ directory.

Open the SQL*XL connection dialog. Press the new conneciton button and start the database connection wizard.
Select paradox as database type and select the directory you want to connect to. In my case I have chosen the c:\ directory.

After establishing the connection you can create a new table by executing a create table statement through the SQL dialog. For example execute:
create table paradox ( a number, d date, v varchar(100))

Note: a paradox table name can only contain 8 characters.

When you inspect your C:\ directory you will see a new file called paradox.DB.
