Show FTP site in Windows Explorer

To show the contents of an FTP site in Windows Explorer you can use the following technique. The files show in the usual way like it were normal local files. You can however not open files as you can with normal files. You can copy files from and to the FTP site easily.

Open windows explorer and open the My Network Places item.
If you have once before connected to the site it may still be displayed here.
To add a new one right click on the My Network Places and add a new network place.

Sometimes the item to add a new network place is not displayed. Does anyone know why? In that case just type it into the address bar. If the address bar does not show right click on the toolbar of windows explorer and enable it.
Type in the address bar:
ftp://myusername:mypassword@www.mysite.com
