No rows when querying a table

William from the USA asked the following question.

Question:
I am querying my table. I got the column names into Excel but no data. I entered the data by running insert scripts in Oracle's SQL*Plus

Answer:
You need to commit the inserts in SQL*Plus before they are available from a different session. The session that you have with SQL*XL cannot see changes you make in another session unless you commit them first.

Suggestion:
You can also run the insert statements in SQL*XL. Just run them through the SQL dialog. When you would have done it that way you would have seen the changes immediately as changes within the same session are available for that session immediately.
