Connecting to Database through excel
08.06.06 at 11:47:29

Hi,

I have a requirement to connect to the Oracle Database from excel. Oracle database resides on a UNIX server. This can be done through the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle. But do we need Oracle client installed in the machine from where we are trying to connect to the Database. Is there any way to connect to the database without Oracle client installed in the PC.

You can connect using the Oracle Instant Client (Oracle IC). This is ODBC but without the need to install the Oracle home software.

See:
Documentation: http://www.oraxcel.com/projects/sqlxl/help/techniques/connecting/oracle_ic.html

Hope this helps,
