Stop and restart Windows Explorer
Sometimes you may want Windows to not spend any unnecessary CPU and memory on other things than the task you are trying to perform. When you investigate the performance of your PC you will see that explorer.exe is taking quite a bit of CPU and memory.
Did you know you can stop explorer and start it later again when you need it?
Just open the task manager with Ctrl-Alt-Del
In the processes tab, find explorer.exe and stop the process.
The windows start bar will now disappear along with any copies of the Windows Explorer you had open. What remains are the programs you were running and that you had not minimised.
Task switching still works with Alt-Tab. You can also get back to the task manager with Ctrl-Alt-Del.
To start explorer again, just open the Task Manager with Ctrl-Alt-Del and use File, New taks (run). Type explorer.exe and voila, you have the start bar back in windows.
