How to Insert CLOB values from Excel into the database

Bonnie from the USA asked the following question.

Question:
I would like to know how to upload data from Excel to an Oracle CLOB field.

Answer:
Connect to the Oracle database using an ODBC or the OLE DB driver/provider from Oracle.
Then use SQL*XL's multiple rows insert feature.

You can also use an insert statement. I used the following commands to test this using a OO4O connection in Oracle 8.1.7:
create table clobtest(a number,b clob) ;
insert into clobtest values (1,'hello world');

Please note that the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle MSDAORA does not support LOB values.
