File sort order with the VB dir command

I have provided one of my customers with a program to compile HTML files from directory listings: a Dir2HTML program. Inside the program I am using the VB6 Dir command to retrieve the directory listings. The files were always coming out in the correct order, the most recent first.

Now my customer bought a new external hard disk and the files come out in a different order. We are not able to force it to come out in the correct order this time. I will not implement a sorting algorithm to sort the files by the modified date but if anyone knows a way to influence the order of the files found by the VB6 dir command I would like to hear about it.
