XP unable to defragment all files

Windows XP is unable to defragment all files

I have one drive with about 150GB of large files (2-3GB each). When I use the normal Windows XP defrag utility about 25 of these files remain quite fragmented with 20-100 fragments. I do not understand why this is.

I have now found a way to fix this. I used the sysinternals.com contig utility. It is quite a little gem (as are all the other sysinternals.com utilities):
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Contig.html

To defragment my files I used the following command line:
contig -v -s *.vmdk

My files are called *.vmdk. I used the -v option to create output and -s to make the contig utility do a recursive search for the files.
