Where is the describe Table/View dialog?
28.03.06 at 10:07:06
SQL*XL user Raelyn from the USA asked the following question.
I am told there was a feature that is no longer available (or we don't know how to find it) in SQL*XL 4.0.42.   It is the Describe Table/View option.  I know it was in at least the 3.1.31 version.  Is there a replacement feature??
The Describe Table/View dialog was replaced by the SQL editor.
The Describe Table/View dialog could be used to view the schemas and tables/views in the database. Further, it could dump the table definitions in the worksheet.
This functionality is now covered by the SQL dialog.
In the SQL dialog you see to the left of the screen the database objects list. You will find the schema and table/view information there. It also can generate the basic SQL statements if you right click a database object.
The SQL editor can also dump the table descriptions. It generates the describe commands that you can run to get the table descriptions. Again, right click on the item to create a desc command. Note that if you click the tables or views node or if you click the schema object  you can choose to create the describe statement for all the tables or views.
