Macro recording not working - no code is generated
26.02.06 at 21:05:12

User Nour found out that there can be a problem with macro recording. He found that now code lines were added to the macro when he used actions in SQL*XL.

Usually when no code lines are generated the SQL*XL macro recorder is switched off. In the SQL*XL Program Preferences, in the general section, ensure that macro recording is enabled.

Nour had the macro recording enabled and still there was no code generated in his macro. We found out that this was due to him selecting the option to save the macro in his personal macro workbook.
When recording a new macro you are asked to select a location to store the macro. That can be ThisWorkbook or anther workbook or the personal macro workbook. We found out that the SQL*XL macro generator only works when the macro is stored in ThisWorkbook.

To summarise:
When no code is created in your macro, first check whether the SQL*XL macro recorder is enabled. If it is enabled, then please ensure you use the ThisWorkbook option to save your macro.
