Commit frequency for Insert Multiple Rows
09.10.05 at 19:49:19

A new parameter for the Insert Multiple Rows feature was added: Commit frequency.

Hitherto SQL*XL was only able to commit every 10 rows. Now you can set your commit frequency. So if you specify 75 SQL*XL will commit after 75 rows. If you offer e.g. 100 rows it will commit at 75 but of course also at the end afther the 100th row.

This should be good news for those who wish to have better control over the insert process. If you do too many inserts without committing you have run into problems - in Oracle e.g. rollback segment problems. If you commit too often it will slow the insert process down. Now you can choose yourself how often you wish to issue the commits.
